Day Two in Glasgow & Kate's Jumping for Joy!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry spent the day in Glasgow supporting the Commonwealth Games.

It's the trio's second consecutive day at the games. They arrived yesterday afternoon via a commercial flight and enjoyed boxing, swimming, athletics and hockey before meeting volunteers and staff. It provided some wonderful photos including William and Kate holding hands. We do love a little royal PDA here at the Duchess Kate Blog. William in particular tends to be incredibly guarded, so it's nice to see him relax.

Before taking in sporting events, the royals took the opportunity to attend separate engagements in aid of their personal charitable interests. The Duchess went to a reception in aid of her patronage SportsAid.

Her Royal Highness met fifteen of the rising stars of British sport - including three competitors in the Commonwealth Games - at Home Nation House where she viewed a mentoring session led by tennis star Laura Robson and former world champion open-water swimmer Keri-Anne Payne.

The organisation helps the next generation of British athletes by being the first to recognise their achievements and support their ambitions. Since it was established in 1976, the charity has helped many of the UK's most successful sportsmen and women, including two-thirds of the British team at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Readers will recall the Duchess attended an engagement for the organisation last October - her first solo appearance since the birth of Prince George. Wearing her signature uniform of a navy blazer, jeans and wedges she participated in a game of volleyball.

A royal patronage can be vital for charitable organisations. SportsAid is particularly proud to have Kate on board:

'SportsAid is very proud to have The Duchess of Cambridge as the charity's patron - a champion of future champions. Her support for young and aspiring athletes through SportsAid stems from her own love of sport and a desire to help young people realise their full potential .'

At the moment SportsAid is nurturing and working with our future Olympians and Paralympians. If you wish to find out more or donate you can find all relevant information on their official website.

During the visit Kate revealed Prince George loves swimming. Last week it was revealed she takes him to the Buckingham Palace pool weekly.

Meanwhile, William and Harry travelled to the Gorbals Leisure Centre to meet young people training on the Coach Core programme. Again, this engagement was about supporting young people in sport. Coach Core gives those aged 16-24 the chance to become the next generation of inspirational coaches.

Following their solo visits, the royals regrouped and went to watch the athletics at Hampden Park.

Kate was enthusiastic as she watched the athletes.

Kate's expressions during sporting events have proved very popular among fans and press alike.

Next, the royals visited the Athletes' Village where they were given a tour of the facilities, before moving to the village green where they heard a performances of the Games' anthem for UNICEF from a group of local school children. The trio posed for a photo with the talented singers.

The Games provided the perfect opportunity for UNICEF to launch a global fundraising appeal. Spectators, athletes and viewers were invited to participate in the Put Children First initiative by donating via a text number or web address. With the establishment of the Children of the Commonwealth Fund by UNICEF, the aim is to create a Games legacy for children in every country in the Commonwealth. The appeal has raised almost £5 million thus far, if you wish to donate please click here.

Kate received a teddy bear for Prince George.

Always a good sport, Kate decided to try out the South African games of Three Tins with children from UNICEF UK.

The game involves jumping over a set of tins placed on the ground.

One could say The Duchess was jumping for joy.

The itinerary for this trip was very well planned including a variety of events and ensuring the royals met as many people and charities involved with the games as possible.

A sweet moment between the couple.

The Duchess opted for familiar pieces again today.

Beginning with the one button crepe blazer by Canadian brand Smythe. Kate's jacket is available at Saks Fifth Avenue and in black at Shopbop and there's a solid selection of blazers by the label available at Nordstrom.

Kate wore her striking blue Stella McCartney Ridley Stretch Dress from the Fall 2012 Collection. The crepe frock originally retailed for £515.

We last saw Kate wearing it in Canberra in April.

In fact, Kate wore this exact look during the London 2012 games when she and William watched British number one Andy Murray compete at Wimbledon.

Whilst Kate has opted for her go-to uniform and repeats for the Glasgow visit, it's worth noting she didn't choose blue both days by accident. Yesterday's blue and white shirt and today's dress are a nice nod to the Scottish colours. Blue is also one of SportAid's colours. It does appear the Duchess is determined not to let her sartorial selections detract from the events, hence repeating entire looks.

Kate wore her Stuart Weitzman Corkswoon Wedges again today.

I have to say, I really enjoyed seeing today's events unfold. From patronage engagements to watching the games and making time support the UNICEF appeal (and of course Kate's participation) it was a delightful day full of memorable moments What's your verdict?
