Kate chatted with school children upon arrival. A four-year-old boy made Kate smile when she asked him what his favourite part of school was: "lunchtime" he quipped back.
Kate was there in her role as patron of Place2Be, the leading UK provider of school-based mental health support, to view the progress of the charity's M-PACT (Moving Parents and Children Together) Plus programme, a school-based project designed to provide early support for school children affected by a parent's drug or alcohol misuse.
The project is funded by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and Comic Relief who are working with Place2Be and another of Kate's patronages, Action on Addiction, to deliver the programme.
William and Kate attended Place2Be's annual conference in London yesterday to speak with staff and to learn more about the organisation and their work. No doubt Kate wanted to ensure she was prepared and informed for today's event and future engagements as patron. The younger royals prefer to take on less patronages than previous generations allowing them to have more of an impact.
Kate launched the M-PACT programme in Manchester last year.

The Duchess met project co-ordinators and school head teachers to gain a real insight into the progress made since the launch before joining a private counselling session. Kate asked "Have you found it difficult to attract parents given the stigma that can be associated with these issues?".

Kensington Palace said today's visit was a "deeply personal one" for the Duchess who is passionate about helping to break the cycle of addiction within families.
Place2Be provides emotional and therapeutic support services in primary and secondary schools, building children's resilience through talking, creative work and play. They currently reach 80,000 children, helping them to cope with wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.

Kate was joined by comedian John Bishop, who asked the press "not to focus on the style icon in the room or the Duchess".

The Duchess enjoyed chatting with Mr. Bishop.
Kate spoke about Prince George:
'George is racing around. He's so fast and I can't believe he's opening doors already.'Before leaving Kate received artwork from a talented pupil.

It is always such a treat to hear when readers have the opportunity to see Kate out and about during engagements. Today Anna and her family saw Kate this morning, Anna kindly offered to share her photos and described Kate as "very regal and unrushed by all the excitement. She was so thoughtful to spend time with the children and they were all very excited to see her".

With many thanks to Anna for getting in touch. We wish her and her family a fabulous stay in London.
Kate looked effortlessly stylish in the GOAT Scarlett Pleat-Front Dress. The coral-pink garment is made in Britain from Italian wool crepe. It features a pleated bust and optional belt that keeps the waist in focus and a pencil skirt with a back hem split. It originally retailed for £450, however it's currently on sale for £270 at Matches.

When William and Kate visited Scotland last month Kate wore a coral pink GOAT dress underneath her Jonathan Saunders coat. It seems very likely it's the same dress and it's great for fashion fans to see it properly today. It's a lovely understated piece.
The Scarlett dress is also available in black in limited sizes for £313 (reduced from £448) at Matches and charcoal teal.

And completed the look with her Links of London Effervescence Bubble Stiletto Earrings. Kate has had them since at least 2010 and hasn't publicly worn them in some time. The sterling silver earrings are still available for £130. They're quite glamorous and work well day or night.

Most notably Kate wore the earrings at the 2011 Ark Gala.
